Future Handyman

So, a few weeks ago (give or take a few days), I had a architecture project that involved wood cutting and gluing and stuff like that (read below for the architecture story). Well, my grandpa and uncle helped me that stuff, you know, the cutting, the sawing, that sorta stuff. I felt useless since all I did was give them the measurements and angles (that by the way, were complete accurate, in a way) so that they could chop it up.

SO, in order to revive my non-useless feelings, I decided to try to saw things today.
Yep, took me quite a while because I didn’t have a wood stopper or little thing to keep the wood from moving (my grandfather took it off). So anyway, it was pretty straight and a bit easier than I had thought, but if I had a stopper, then everything would be much better…

So, yeah, I feel great now that I know how to (partially) use a saw and stuff. I even learned how to mark angles and lines on a wooden block. Also how to mark the area that I’m supposed to cut. Now that I learned, its time for a project!

Its can be one of these:
A small wooden box/chest
Puzzle box (I have the blueprints)
A recreation of the pyramid project that I had
Or just about anything boxy I guess….

UPDATE (really small though...)

Well, I havent updated in a while, haha sorry mom and Rj and Nickssss..
I've been so busy with the term paper and the science powerpoint, i never had much time to write a full post for a blog... but heres whats going on...

Im in a little bit in a spot here. PSP or iPod? Hmmm....
I've been trying to decide for quite some time now. My mom has been bragging about her latest gizmo, and I'm stuck here listening to it while she rubs it in my face. She recently got an iPod Touch and shes going crazy, I think. But lately my whole family has been in the iPod craze. Auntie got an iPod touch, Dad got an iPhone, and of course mommy got a iPod Touch and an excuse to brag at her poor little son who has a broken iPod Video.

Ouch.
Well, mom said she went on friendster (with her ipod), and has been watching youtube on her iPod. no fair mom...

So anyway....

Architecture Gone Wrong

SO, this is how it goes down. The other high school students went camping and I’m stuck at home doing nothing, well, almost nothing. I’m working on the project that nobody likes to do except me (and playing pokemon at the same time). Its an architectural project in which a group of 5-6 students get together to create this one of a kind model of a structure that doesn’t exist, meaning we have to make it up on our own… The funny part is the one about the 5-6 students thing. We have 6 members in our group, and only 3 of them (including myself) are actually doing something. I’m doing the scaling and calculations of the whole thing. Design artist, Nicole Bayeta, is designing (quite reasonable since she is the design artist). RJ Gentapanan is our stylist, and my conscience in this whole thing (in case I get second thoughts).

Our other “members” are Mariel Cacho (who has to have everything done for her by other people), Honey Ray Calog (rarely see him), and Malcolm Ofiasa (who is absolutely no help at all).

Well, I was doing some calculating a few weeks back, and I had everything planned out. Turns out some of my calculations were wrong, and the pyramid was actually a tri-mid. Or, if you prefer pyramid with 3 sides (I’m not even sure if tri-mid is even a word). Yeah, and it gets even better, the “tri-mid” would usually have solid sides right? Well, lets just say it has holes in it. Luckily, saved by the teacher, recapped that “the buildings must be made up, and no stealing of designs from buildings already built”. Boy was I happy, I thought this was all my fault.

Design artist, Nicole, was actually expecting it to be a pyramid, and the whole thing was actually supposed to look like pyramids in Egypt, and that the pyramids were supposed to be in Egypt, and we were going to have sand everywhere and camels. BUTT (yes “butt”, its not a typo), the teacher had announced what she had announced and its all good…

BUTT (not a typo), theres this concept that I actually want to do. The “tri-mids” are actually, pretty cool looking. Cheah, thats awesome, isnt it? Hahaha well, I dont know, what do you think?

We are actually going to give it a nice varnish to make it look classy yet modern. Well, its up to our designer, yep. Our lolo is actually putting the hinges on it as we speak. If you are wondering about the hinges, the "tri-mids" are actually going to open up, and there will be something inside. Yeap, pretty cool huh? thanks to my dream job of being an architect (as soon as I'm done with nursing).
